What will my dog learn?
Tell me more...
Welcome to our HOP IT UP GUIDE where your dog can learn to jump up on to multiple objects (like a bed, a chair, a box, a bench a stone, a tree stump. Dogs are generally very exploratory animals and love nothing more than seeking vantage points..
Dogs can become over stimulated really quickly and walks can create this, when they do, dogs can find it really hard to calm down with studies suggesting that it can take many hours to calm down ... unless, of course; you show them the way, so the hop it up game gives you a skill that can help them focus and calm down from the stimulation of the walk.
In this HOP IT UP GUIDE we start to teach your dog how to be confident on multiple surfaces and to settle, wait until your release cue so this can be perfect with walks where cyclists/joggers fly past. You will practice each step till your dog is rock solid before stepping up to the next level, Working through these steps and then using this strategy out in the “real” world to give you that all important control. We will work through:-
· Familiarisation
· Ping pong back onto the object
· Release Cue
· Duration
· Impulse Control
· Distance
· Distraction
· Generalising
· On command
Of course this will require some effort from you too. Like any parent, showing your dog the way is the key to your dog learning this skill out in the wider more enticing world. In this guide we have squished the steps into small bite size chunks that you will aim to master before moving onto the next step. Commit to just 5/10 minutes a day and marvel at the results. Once you have completed these steps it’s time for you to practice out in the real world and with real distractions!!!!
